Honest comparison

OneCast Studio vs HoneyBook

HoneyBook is a great generalist CRM for booking clients. OneCast is built for what happens after the booking: the shoot, the edit, the gallery, the review and the delivery.

The short version

HoneyBook is client-flow software for any service business: leads, proposals, contracts, scheduling and payments with genuinely strong automations. What it does not have is anything photo or video specific. There are no galleries, no proofing, no video review, and delivery means attaching files to messages. OneCast Studio covers the same quote-to-payment backbone and then keeps going through production and delivery, with AUD pricing and native Xero rather than QuickBooks. HoneyBook only launched in Australia in May 2026, so local support is new ground for them.

Side by side.

What each platform actually ships today. Where HoneyBook is stronger, we say so.

What a small studio pays.

OneCast Studio
$49 to $99 /mo AUD
Starter $49, Studio $99, GST included, no per-transaction platform fee on top. Stripe processing rates pass through as-is.
HoneyBook
$36 to $129 /mo
Starter $36, Essentials $59 (automations, QuickBooks, scheduler), Premium $129. Card payments run through HoneyBook processing at 2.9% + 25c, which on a $5,000 job is roughly $145 per charge on top of the subscription.

Why creators switch to OneCast

Purpose-built for studios
Galleries, proofing, video review and shoot-day logistics are the product, not an integration. HoneyBook stops at the booking.
Your money, your processor
OneCast uses Stripe and adds no platform cut. HoneyBook requires its own processing with a fee on every card payment.
Xero, natively
Australian studios mostly run Xero. HoneyBook syncs only to QuickBooks Online; OneCast pushes invoices to Xero on send.
Delivery clients remember
A branded portal with the gallery, the film and the invoice beats a message thread with attachments.

Where HoneyBook wins

Credit where it is due. If these are your priorities, HoneyBook may fit you better today.

Lead capture and marketing automations: pipelines, triggers and AI follow-ups are deeper than anything OneCast does today.
Contract templates with mature e-signing; OneCast handles sign-off through quote approval instead.
A large template marketplace and years of generalist CRM polish.
Native mobile apps.

Coming from HoneyBook?

Here is how studios usually move in. Most are done inside an afternoon.

1

Export your contacts from HoneyBook (Contacts, then Export) and finish any in-flight smart-file signatures there.

2

Start a free OneCast trial, set branding, and recreate your packages and price list; quotes build from these in seconds.

3

Add active clients, or connect Xero and pull contacts from there.

4

Point new enquiries at OneCast quotes and bookings; let signed HoneyBook projects finish where they started.

5

Cancel HoneyBook once the last legacy project completes. Access runs to the end of the billing period.

This is a game changer. All in one platform for Photo and Video creatives, even production agencies! You’ve gotta give this a try!

Common questions.

Does OneCast have contracts like HoneyBook?

Not standalone e-signing contracts yet. Quote approval in the portal is timestamped and acts as sign-off, and many studios attach their terms PDF to the quote. If you need heavyweight countersigned contracts, HoneyBook is stronger there today.

Are there lead pipelines and automations?

OneCast tracks clients, projects and follow-ups, and automates the delivery side (payment reminders, gallery expiry, review nudges). It is not a marketing CRM with lead-stage pipelines; if that is your core need, we are honest that HoneyBook wins it.

What payment fees do I pay on OneCast?

Only Stripe standard processing. OneCast adds no platform percentage on top, unlike HoneyBook processing at 2.9% + 25c.

Is HoneyBook actually available in Australia?

Yes, since late May 2026, with AUD pricing. It is a brand-new market for them, while OneCast is Australian-built with Sydney-hosted data and GST-inclusive tax invoices from day one.

Can I run both during a transition?

Yes, and most studios do: finish signed projects in HoneyBook while new bookings, galleries and deliveries run through OneCast.
